As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Dangote Group has extended support to the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), a statement from the group said.
The Dangote Group has injected over N20billion in CSR to various sectors of the Nigerian economy, making it the highest private donor in Nigeria’s history.
To this end, the conglomerate has supported the Nigerian Society of Engineers during its just concluded presidential inauguration last week.
“We believe that the engineers are the bedrock of industrialization and we hold them in high esteem. This is more so that no nation can develop without developing its industrialize base. We want our relations with the engineers to be sustained and grow,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the Group President, Alhaji Aliko Dangote was represented by Engr Mansur Ahmed, an Executive Director.
While congratulating the president of NSE Engr Ademola Isaac Olorunfemi as the 29th President of the Society of Engineers, the statement said Dangote has made a giant leap by establishing a an engineering academy, known as the Dangote Academy located near its factory at Obajana in Kogi State.
The statement added that speakers during the inauguration eulogized Aliko Dangote for his effort at industrialization Nigeria, saying Nigerians are proud of his job creation effort, and needed to be supported by engineers.
In his speech, the new president Engr Olorunfemi said while making reference to Dyson that: “Next to the gift of life is technology, for it is the greatest of God’s gifts as it offers the poorof the earth a short-cut to greatness and wealth.”
He said the NSE has 59 branches in the country.
