After AMCON’s Successful Surgery, 25 Banks, Firms Express Interest in Mainstreet Bank

A total of 25 local and international firms have expressed interests in the acquisition of Mainstreet Bank after the successful rehabilitation by the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).
The ‘toxic’ bank made this known yesterday.
AMCON financial advisers, two weeks ago, requested for expression of interest from interested parties for the acquisition of Mainstreet Bank, formerly known as Afribank before it was nationalised. Kayode Lambo, the corporations’s head of corporate communication, said in a statement that the 25 EOI (expression of interest) that were received spanned a diverse group of interest which included local and foreign banks as well as investment groups, adding that the number of requests received for the divestment exceeded expectation. He said the successful completion of the submission of EOI phase of the divestment of its shareholding in Mainstreet Bank confirmed the corporation’s position that the timeframe given was adequate for interested parties to submit their document.
