Labour Union gets Boost as CBN is Set to Sanction Banks that Ban Labour Activism 

The Central Bank of Nigeria has said it will sanction banks that prevent their employees from joining labour unions or other associations.
The CBN, which said it had received information that some banks had been preventing their employees from exercising their fundamental human rights, explained that deposit money banks, discount houses and development finance institutions were expected to ensure that their employees had freedom of association; this was contained in a circular posted on the central bank’s website on Wednesday. Tokunbo Martins, read, “It has come to the notice of the Central Bank of Nigeria that banks, discount houses and development finance institutions are not in full compliance with the spirit and letter of Principle.
