MTN Holds Strategy Sessions On IPO Listing, Partnership With Ecobank

MTN board members on Monday met with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo over the proposed IPO listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).
The meeting was part of the company’s strategic sessions in Nigeria to underscore its commitment to the country.
The sessions were also geared towards finalising a partnership with Ecobank Group on the provision of mobile financial services across Africa.
The delegation which visited Osinbajo at Aso Rock villa included Phuthuma Nhleko, chairman, MTN Group, Rob Shuter, group chief executive officer, and Pascal Dozie, board chairman, MTN Nigeria.
Other MTN Nigeria board members present at the meeting were Sani Bello, Victor Odili, Tunde Folawiyo, Gbenga Oyebode, Ferdinand Moolman, CEO MTN Nigeria, Tobechukwu Okigbo, corporate relations executive of the company.
The MTN directors also met with the Senate President Bukola Saraki, Adebayo Shittu, minister of communications and Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Umar Danbatta, vice chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), who also hosted the MTN Group, commended the company for its efforts in the communication sector.
MTN Nigeria is the largest subsidiary of the MTN Group.
It has over 53 million subscribers and a network coverage in 3,833 cities, towns and villages nationwide.
Listing on the NSE had been one of the conditions stipulated by the NCC after MTN was fined for contravening sim registration regulations in 2017.
