Samsung may Set Up Assembly Plant in Nigeria

Unconfirmed sources said Samsung is likely to set up an assembly plant in Nigeria before the end of the first quarter of 2014.
This is even as Bismarck Rewane, chief executive officer of Financial Derivatives Company (FDC) Limited said, already, there is increased penetration of smartphones in the country.
Rewane confirmed that unconfirmed sources has it that Samsung may soon open an assembly plant in Nigeria.
Rewane said, data usage in Africa set to increase due to increased smartphone penetration (Bharti Airtel).
He said, Airtel’s African data subscriber number rose by 65% to 15m customers, while data usage rose by 150 percent.
“Tremendous growth already experienced in Tanzania, Nigeria, Uganda and Burkina Faso”, said Rewane in his Monthly Economic Report for September. 
Meanwhile, the Fdc publication said September sales likely to be boosted by ‘back to school shopping’ and that further drop in prices and growth in smartphone sales expected.
